Even if you’re not looking for a job right now, you want to know what’s out there at any given point in time. It’s just part of what you do as an overall career plan.
We checked out scores of job sites for Digital Marketers and found the 6 below to be worthy of your valuable time. They’re not the usual suspects either. If they were, I wouldn’t dedicate an entire issue to this subject.
Please forward this newsletter to a colleague: If you are that colleague, I welcome you. I also invite you to subscribe at no charge here.
Now, w/out further ado, here’s Sr. Editor Janet Roberts with those 6 must-know job sites for Digital Marketers. Take it awaaaay JR….
1. Simply Hired
This massive job board gives you the mother of all customizable search engines and a host of social-media-savvy tools to streamline and focus your job hunt.
The engine gives you dozens of options to filter down your search (location, keywords to include or leave out, company attributes like diversity- or mom-friendly, company size, etc.) Save your search, or leave an email address, and Simply Hired will email you matching positions as they’re posted.
If you want just a snapshot of jobs in your market niche, visit a blog that posts a highly edited feed of Simply Hired jobs, such as Mashable Jobs.
Want to work with friends? Log in with your Facebook account, and Simply Hired will match jobs in its data bank with the companies your buddies work for.
2. Onward Search
Do your work talents take you to the leading edge of communication technology, such as mobile web or app development? You might find what you’re looking for at this digital-only job board.
We like this recruitment agency because it had a broad range of positions around the United States, a number of “hot now” jobs that didn’t appear on other boards, and a high-quality email newsletter that includes career tips and advice along with a list of newly posted positions. Follow @onwardsearch on Twitter, too, to see job postings as soon as they go live.
3. Big Shoes Network
Top-flight marketing jobs aren’t limited to the bicoastal white-collar confines of Boston, New York or San Francisco. This Midwest-focused job board provides a search engine that lets you target by job level, regional location and even how long the job has been posted (1 week to 1.5 months).
We like this service because its search engine saves you time with its pull-down menus and because this editor knows people who have gotten hired through the site.
If you want to stay on top of the freshest positions, sign up for Big Shoes’ email newsletter, Twitter feed or LinkedIn group. Big Shoes focuses on advertising, marketing, PR and web services.
4. The Email Guide’s Job Board
If you’re looking for management-level and higher jobs in either B2B or B2C email marketing, this job board features a carefully edited section of positions at brand-name employers, including both client-side companies and interactive agencies. Recent employers include Facebook, Citi, Match.com, Groupon and Experian CheetahMail.
Once you finish checking out the jobs, take some time to wander around the site. In addition to the job board, The Email Guide provides online resources and networking for email and other digital marketers through its membership list, “The Buzz” blog and industry news and articles.
You can get jobs sent directly to your Twitter feed via @eMailJobs.
5. Search Engine Journal Job Board
Searching for a search-related job? Start with this job board, which posts positions for jobs that either focus on search or include search in a mix of other responsibilities.
If you want only pure-play search jobs (SEO, SEM, PPC project management, etc.), you can customize your search to drop out categories such as social media optimization or general online marketing jobs. The board’s search engine also allows you to specify experience (up to senior level, which will exclude internships) and region.
Looking for a job across the pond? Check out Jobs in Search which concentrates on search and other digital marketing jobs in London and around the UK, with a few in Europe.
6. Talent Zoo
This popular job board specializes in “new media” jobs in advertising, marketing, PR and “geek” positions (Web analytics, user-experience design, etc.)
Your first stop at this site is to create a gratis account because only logged-in members can apply for jobs directly from the posting.
Once you create an account, you’ll be prompted (and reminded often) to upload your resume or create one quickly using Talent Zoo’s Word document form.
Besides offering paid job listings that range from internships to EVP-level postings, Talent Zoo also offers job-hunting and workplace advice tailored to tech-savvy workers and searchers.
